Specials & Coupons - Top Hat Chimney

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Current Offers

$40 Off Any Repair Over $200

Covers every repair we do: chimney caps and crowns, flashing, masonry patches, damper work, and liner repairs. The math is simple. A $240 crown repair becomes $200. A $400 flashing job becomes $360. One offer per household, but it applies to any repair we quote, as long as the total is over two hundred dollars.

Valid through December 31, 2026. Mention this offer when you call (929) 822-6306.

Free Second Opinion on Any Written Estimate

If another company handed you a written estimate and something about it felt off, bring it to us. Wendell will go over it line by line, take a camera up the flue if needed, and tell you plainly whether that work actually needs doing. You get our verdict in plain English, with the footage to back it up. No trip charge for calls inside our service county.

Valid through December 31, 2026. Mention this offer when you call (929) 822-6306.

No Trip Charge Inside the County

Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, and the surrounding Queens neighborhoods: if you’re inside our service county, the visit itself costs you nothing. We show up, we look at the chimney, we tell you what’s going on. If the job doesn’t need doing, Wendell will say so right there on your front step and head out, no charge.

Valid through December 31, 2026. Mention this offer when you call (929) 822-6306.

10% Off Always for Seniors and Veterans

This one never expires because it isn’t a promotion. It’s the least we can do. If you served or if you’re sixty-five and up, every chimney cleaning, repair, liner, or rebuild is ten percent off the final invoice. Has been since 1999, and it isn’t changing. Just let the person on the phone know, and it’s done.

Valid through December 31, 2026. Mention this offer when you call (929) 822-6306.

Free Estimate on Any Chimney Cleaning or Sweep

Call us, describe the chimney, and we’ll quote you a flat price over the phone before anyone schedules anything. That’s the number on the invoice. No surprise add-ons, no “we found something while we were up there” upsell. We sweep it, we camera it if we think there’s a problem, and we show you what we found before recommending anything else.

Valid through December 31, 2026. Mention this offer when you call (929) 822-6306.

Let’s Talk About the Real Question: What Does a Sweep in Astoria Actually Cost?

Astoria’s housing stock is different from most of the city. We work prewar brick rowhouses off 30th Avenue, attached homes near Ditmars, five-story walk-ups by the park, and converted factory lofts over by 21st Street. The flue is different in each one. Lined masonry, unlined brick, terracotta tile, old repair jobs from decades ago. Before we quote anything, we need to know what you have. Call (929) 822-6306 and answer a few questions about the house, the age of the roof, and how often you burn. We’ll give you a price that holds.

That said, homeowners ask for numbers, and we give them. A standard cleaning for a single-flue fireplace chimney in Astoria typically runs $180 to $260, depending on access and how heavy the creosote is. Wood stove flues run a bit more, usually $220 to $300, because they glaze faster and need more scraping. If we’re doing a Level 2 camera inspection along with the sweep, add $100 to $140. None of these are bids. They’re ranges, so you know whether to call. The free estimate phone call pins it down.

Do You Really Need a Liner? And What Does That Cost?

Sometimes yes. Sometimes no. Wendell has pulled liners out of Astoria chimneys that looked fine from the firebox and were cracked into three pieces twenty feet up. He’s also told homeowners that their liner was in decent shape and to save their money. That’s the difference with an owner-operated shop: the guy making the call is the guy whose name is on the truck. He has no quota and no reason to sell you something your flue doesn’t need.

If you do need a liner, Astoria prices typically fall between $2,800 and $5,500 for a stainless steel liner install, depending on the height, whether insulation is required, and what the access looks like from the roof and inside. We install DuraFlex and HeatShield products, and we service Gelco, Olympia Chimney, Famco, and Copperfield systems. Some older homes near Astoria Park have unusually short, fat flues that change the install. Rather than guess, we measure and show you the camera footage before we recommend anything.

How to Redeem

It takes three steps, and all of them are easy. First, call (929) 822-6306 and tell the person who answers which offer you’re using. A live person picks up, any hour, and it might be Wendell himself. Second, we book the visit and give you a real arrival window, not a six-hour spread. Third, when the sweep arrives, mention the offer again. The discount comes off the invoice before you pay. No forms, no online codes, none of that.

What Actually Happens If You Skip the Sweep?

First-degree creosote is a brush job. It’s fluffy soot that comes off with a good sweeping. Third-degree creosote is a glaze, shiny and hard, and it’s the kind that feeds chimney fires. In Astoria, where many chimneys haven’t been opened in years, Wendell regularly sees third-degree buildup in homes where people assumed everything was fine because they only burn a few times each winter. The trouble is that the glaze builds up anyway. Once a year, burn or no burn. Chimneys break in the off-season too.

Then there’s carbon monoxide. A blocked or partially blocked flue doesn’t just smoke up the living room. It pushes invisible gas back into the house. Every year in Queens, people get sick from exactly this. The fix is a sweep and a proper inspection, often under three hundred bucks. If you smell smoke when the fireplace is off, or if the damper sticks, call (929) 822-6306 before you light the next fire.
